We were so disappointed to cancel our Mapping the Quartet celebration dinner at Somerville College. We were due to meet almost 100 of you in the dining hall where our wonderful four argued over Plato’s forms, Hobbes’ Leviathan and Ayer’s emotivism.
Although we can’t physically be there, we would like to invite you all to join us in a socially distant activity this Friday between 7pm and 9pm (GMT).
Please follow the link and visit our Mapping the Quartet website. Once there, you can register as a Network member and Map a Connection with one or more of the Quartet.
The website is still in test phase so any feedback you have will be appreciated. You’ll find a link to a feedback form at the bottom of this page.
If you run into trouble mapping a connection or have any questions about the website, pop into the Zoom meeting and someone will be there to help.
Join us for a post-mapping drink on Zoom. Follow the link to drop in for a chat and a Friday-night catch-up. You can tell us about your connection, ask us a question, or just say ‘Hi!’
We’ll be recreating Iris Murdoch’s first ever taste of alcohol by drinking a Gimlet – she had hers in the Royal Oak, opposite Somerville College. A fancy recipe is here, or you can cheat and use lime cordial. If you don’t have the ingredients in the house don’t despair – in these challenging times, you can of course join us with a different cocktail or beverage!
Cocktail hour is taking place on the online meeting platform Zoom! We don’t know how it will go, but in these strange new times experimentation seems worthwhile. You may need to sign up for a free account and download the Zoom app to be able to attend. You’ll need a device that has both a camera and a microphone and is able to connect to the internet – a smart phone or laptop will work.
